Panettone French Toast

If you grew up like me, it’s not Christmas until the first panettone comes into the house. They come in so many different flavors it can be hard to choose just one. It’s delicious on its own with a nice warm cup of coffee, but this panettone french toast is a Christmas morning must.

Ingredients

1 Tommaso Muzzi Fabbri Cherry Panttone or a panettone with candied fruit

6 eggs

1 cup of milk

1 tablespoon of cinnamon

1 packet of vanillina or tablespoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon orange zest

maple syrup

Directions

Slice your panettone into about 1 inch slices

In a medium sized bowl, add your eggs, cinnamon, milk, vanillina and orange zest and whisk until everything is combined

Coat your pan with butter and place on medium heat

Dunk your slices of french toast into the egg mixture, making sure to coat both sides and then place in the pan. You should be able to fit two at a time

Cook 3-4 minutes or until golden brown, flip and do the same thing on the other side

Serve with powdered sugar and maple syrup
