Homemade Almond Milk

I’ll never forget the day I actually looked at the ingredients inside of my store bought almond milk, cringed, and realized I have to start making my own! I thought the process would be difficult and time consuming but after some research, I realized it’s actually super easy and sooo much better for you! Plus, once you taste the difference you’ll never be able to go back to store bought again!

Yield: about 2 quarts

Ingredients

2 cups organic almonds

7 cups of water

optional: cinnamon, dates, vanilla extract

Directions

For every 1 cup of almonds you’ll need 3 1/2 cups of water

Let your almonds soak in water for 4-5 hours or overnight

Strain and rinse them and add them to a blender

Pour the water over and blend on high speed for 1 minute

Pour the almond milk into a cheese cloth over a bowl

Using your hands squeeze all of the milk from the cheese cloth

Add it back to the blender and add anything you’d like to flavor it (vanilla, dates for sweetness or cinnamon) and blend or you can leave it plain and just add it directly to your glass milk jug

Enjoy!

Note: You can compost the scraps or look up a recipe on how to use almond pulp!
